A new plaza area is planned outside Stafford Borough Council's headquarters in the town centre to make the civic centre more attractive.

The plans come as Staffordshire County Council's new showpiece Staffordshire Place complex directly opposite nears its opening. The current frontage to the borough council offices in South Walls is mainly brick walls and a service yard.

A scheme to brighten up the area will be considered by the council's town planning committee on Wednesday

The exterior of the ground floor of the building between Riverside and South Walls would be re-modelled to provide new shop fronts.

Councillors will hear that the service and parking area to the east of the main building would be partly pedestrianised to create the plaza and the pedestrian access to the River Sow and entrance would be widened with the creation of a new brick arch.
