The final phase of work to create a red route on the Walsall ring road will start next week with drivers set to face six weeks of disruptions.

Double red lines will be introduced on the remaining stretch of the Broadway, Bescot Road, Pleck Road and along to Rolling Mill Street to prevent cars from stopping.

The restrictions are already in place along Broadway North, but this will be extended onto Broadway West which runs towards Junction 9 of the M6.

It comes after the A454 Wolverhampton Road was converted into a red route earlier this year and Bloxwich High Street last year.

Lane closures will be in place but council chiefs insist work will take place on an evening and off peak periods to minimise disruption.

It is expected to cost around £400,000. It has been in the pipeline for several years and the work but will now start on Monday.
