Market trader booted out over plastic sheet

A market trader who has run a lingerie stall in Walsall town centre for almost 50 years has been turfed out by the council – over a plastic sheet he used to protect his stock from the rain.
David Sumner was forced to sack his two staff, including wife Jayne, after having his licence revoked.
Walsall Council claims the sheet was "affecting visibility" to the nearby Body Shop and it had no option other than to get rid of the trader, who has manned his stall for 47 years.
Mr Sumner, aged 67, who lives in Cannock with Jayne, said: "It's diabolical after 47 years for a plastic sheet to cause these problems."
The Body Shop has said it did not have an issue with Mr Sumner's sheet.
