One person killed as crash closes M6

One person was killed and three people were seriously injured in a crash involving a van and a car which brought the M6 to a standstill in Staffordshire this afternoon.

The person who died was thought to have been travelling in the car.

The accident happened on the northbound carriageway near Junction 11 for Cannock.

Air ambulances from Cosford and Staffordshire landed on the carriageway.

The motorway was closed northbound between junctions 11 and 12 at Gailey.
