Bailed thug jailed for breaking girlfriend's jaw
A thug who broke the jaw of his girlfriend with an ashtray while on bail for slashing a man in a Black Country street was starting an eight-and-a-half year jail sentence today.
A thug who broke the jaw of his girlfriend with an ashtray while on bail for slashing a man in a Black Country street was starting an eight-and-a-half year jail sentence today.
James Gray slashed Errol Jones's throat and neck with a piece of broken glass as his victim walked down Bushbury Lane, Wolverhampton.
Gray, aged 27, was given bail after being arrested for the crime in February last year, Wolverhampton Crown Court heard yesterday.
Five months later, Gray hurled a heavy ashtray into the face of girlfriend Sarah Millington during an argument, the court heard.
Mr Michael Anning, defending, claimed Gray had been provoked for months by Mr Jones, and was sorry for the attack.
Gray, of Morrison Avenue, Bushbury, who had a string of previous convictions, admitted wounding and wounding with intent to cause actual bodily harm.
He was jailed by Judge Robin Onions.
