Jobs have been axed at a Black Country firm - with the boss blaming new double yellow lines on the road outside for a loss in business.

Two staff have gone at Direct Security Systems Midlands, Willenhall. Managing director Brian Smith blamed new parking and loading restrictions brought in for the £30 million Morrisons supermarket in Wood Street.

He said changes prevented the Doctors Piece firm taking deliveries in office hours and stopped customers pulling up outside the doors.

Mr Smith said that, despite Walsall Council agreeing to introduce a lay-by with 10 minutes' parking time allowed nearby, fewer passing customers called.

"I have had to lose two of my counter staff since the arrival of Morrisons and the new parking arrangements were made," he said.
