A man has today been arrested on suspicion of murder following the death of a pensioner in West Bromwich. David Peniket, aged 69, died on Monday night.
His death at Sandwell Hospital came after a confrontation at his home.
A post mortem revealed Mr Peniket suffered a heart attack. Officers arrested a 45-year-old man in West Bromwich at 8am today.
The arrest came as details were revealed of the moments leading up to retired gardener Mr Peniket's death at the opening of an inquest into his death this morning.
At the hearing at Smethwick Coroner's Office, Black Country coroner Robin Balmain, said: "Mr Peniket was at home and he went to answer the door.
"When he opened the door a man forced his way into the house and pushed him to the ground. Mr Peniket was then taken to hospital soon after because he had stopped breathing. Mrs Peniket was there, and witnessed what happened."
