Wolverhampton-born TV star Suzi Perry has been diagnosed with kidney stones.
The Gadget Show presenter and former Smestow School pupil last night posted a message on social networking website Twitter saying she had cancelled work for a few days and was resting at her parent's house.
Later, the former model from Finchfield, posted in a message: "I was filming in Birmingham for the Gadget Show and had to go to hospital with severe back pain. I have kidney stones and have to have more tests."
Following a flood of 'get well' messages from fans on the website, Suzi, whose parents Tony and Irene still live in Wolverhampton, responded: "You're very kind. I hope to be back, fighting fit for Gadget Show Live."
During an exclusive interview with the Express & Star in 2009, Suzi revealed how she almost died while awaiting treatment for an ectopic pregnancy.
She and her Dutch fiancee, Bastien Boosten, had been overjoyed to discover she was expecting their first child. But just weeks later she developed the condition.
The avid Wolves fan, who once worked as a lighting technician at the city's Grand Theatre while at school, told how she collapsed before getting the attention of a gynaecological team at West Middlesex Hospital, who then had to rush her to the scan unit because it was due to close for the day.
After undergoing an emergency operation, she was assured that she should still be able to conceive.
Suzi, who is the god-daughter of the late former Whitesnake guitarist Mel Galley of Cannock, broke into TV by covering the World Superbike championships for Sky, later switching to BBC when it took over the coverage.
She was married to Steve Bullock, a model from Sheffield, for four years. She met Bastien while filming the Gadget Show.
Suzi is also patron of Wolverhampton wish-making charity Promise Dreams along with former Wolves footballers Steve Bull and Don Goodman.
Gadget Show Live is to take place at Birmingham's NEC from Wednesday until next Sunday.
