BT today confirmed it is opening a new call centre in the Black Country with the creation of 450 new jobs.

It will be based at the new £75 million All Saints office complex in West Bromwich, set to open in Autumn 2011.

Sandwell councillors and BT representatives were due to meet at the site to discuss the news today.

Councillor Darren Cooper, leader of Sandwell Council, said: "We welcome BT's decision to open their new call centre here in Sandwell."

Neil Rogers, president of BT Global Services for government and health, said: "We will be working with the local authority to ensure as many of the new posts as possible are filled by Sandwell people."

The call centre will provide both service support and sales support services for a number of key BT customers

In addition to the 450 new call centre jobs for BT staff, 500 existing council workers will also be eventually transferred to the site.

It is the first new office scheme in West Bromwich for 30 years.
