There was a sea of bright blue as nearly all the runners sported matching tops as they set off for the run.
Father Steve Harper, aged 43, a graphic designer from Solihull, had a little extra support from his six-year-old son Ryan, who cheered holding up a sign dedicated to helping his dad across the finish line.
Steve, who crossed the finish line in one hour and 19 minutes, said: "I have never done this before, and it was fantastic, especially in the last few kilometres."
John Nicholls, aged 64, who runs the Pig and Trumpet pub in Market Place, Wednesbury, went to the run to support his sister, Sharon Sadler, 46, and punters Les-lie Cotton, Gail Price, 43, and her son James Wednesday, 22.
Andy Day was first across the finish line in 38 minutes exactly.
