??Yobs have disfigured a sculpture of a deer outside Cannock Chase District Council's headquarters.
The deer, made of metal and covered in glass fibre, has had its ears and antlers pulled off in act of mindless vandalism.
The deer, which is symbol for Cannock Chase itself, sits in a garden recreation area outside the main building in Beecroft Road, Cannock, which is often used as place to relax by people in the town.
Staffordshire Police spokesman Carol Evans said the damage is more likely to be an act of vandalism than people stealing the metal to sell on.
Jamie Summerfield, a spokesman for Cannock Chase District Council, said the metal has no monetary value and agreed it is most likely to a be a pointless act of vandalism caused by someone passing by.
Mr Summerfield said the council was "very disappointed" by the damage. He said: "At the moment we are just looking at how we can repair it and how much it will cost, and whether we are insured against it."
The damage happened between 7pm on Thursday, September 23 at 7pm and 7am the following day.
If anyone has any information about the vandalism to the deer, call Staffordshire Police on 0300 123 4455 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
