The takeaway delivery driver, was today named as Muhammed Farooq, aged 40.

The Merridale man was attacked in Clifton Street, Chapel Ash, as his unsuspecting wife gave birth to the couple's daughter.

Police say the death may be linked to a fight at the nearby Flames takeaway, where they victim worked, at around 10pm on Tuesday.

The dead man was expected to be named later today. He was found in the street by police just before midnight on Tuesday.

Police said today one of the four men arrested on suspicion of murder has since been released without charge.

Yesterday, two more men were held on suspicion of conspiracy to pervert the course of justice.

One of those has since been released, but a man who was held in the Chapel Ash area at around 7.15pm last night remained in police custody today.

Det Ch Insp Mark Payne, leading the probe, today appealed for two men, believed to have been white, who may have witnessed the fight in Flames to come forward.

The victim's wife gave birth at New Cross Hospital in the hours after the death. Police broke the news to her after the baby was delivered.
