A Staffordshire pensioner has died three weeks after she was seriously injured when she was hit by a coach.

Ann Draper, aged 74, of Church Street, Cannock, was left with multiple broken ribs and a fractured shoulder following the accident at Cannock bus station on July 30.

She was rushed to intensive care at Wolverhampton's New Cross Hospital, where medics described her injuries as "life threatening".

She was thought to be improving, but her condition deteriorated and she died on Friday afternoon.

The cause of death has not yet been determined. Formal identification of the body is due to take place today,

Police have issued a fresh appeal for witnesses to the events at the bus station following Mrs Draper's death.

Officers want to hear from anybody who was waiting for a bus when the accident occurred at around 8.30am.

Mrs Draper, who was registered blind and wheelchair-bound, had lived at the Elmcroft Court retirement flats complex with her husband Ray, aged 76, for the past six years.

The pair were at the Stafford Road bus station waiting for a coach to take them to Weston-super-Mare when the collision occurred.

Mrs Draper, who was due to celebrate her 75th birthday on September 26, was knocked out of her wheelchair.

Her husband, who had been pushing her, suffered minor injuries and was released after treatment.

The driver of the coach, a 41-year-old local man, was not injured.

Police were today unable to confirm details of the vehicle involved.
