Tiswas and Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? host Chris Tarrant was presented with his star on Birmingham's walk of fame at a glittering black-tie dinner.

The TV personality received the honour during the Lord's Taverners Eve of Test Dinner at Edgbaston cricket ground last night. Despite being a born and bred southerner, Tarrant described himself as an "honorary Brummie".

The 63-year-old presenter went to school in Worcester, studied English at Birmingham University and had his first job at the city's ATV studios in Broad Street.

He said: "I am not a Brummie but I am so proud of Birmingham. I always defend this city, and I absolutely love it. I am gobsmacked - I'm in good company."

The Walk of Stars on Broad Street already includes Ozzy Osbourne, Jasper Carrott, Lenny Henry, Frank Skinner, Noddy Holder, Julie Walters and Murray Walker.

Tarrant suggested that Wolves vice-president Rachael Heyhoe-Flint and Wizzard frontman Roy Wood as the next people who should get their own stars.
