A neglected dog rescued from a street in the Black Country and taken in by a Stafford charity is being nursed back to health.
Harry, a collie cross, was found just over a week ago on a busy street in Wolverhampton by a volunteer for Stafford's Pet Welfare charity and is now in need of a new home.
He was dicing with death between cars and was severely undernourished and had bleeding cuts to all of his paws.
Harry, who is thought to be around four-years-old, was also suffering an untreated flea-allergy and had lost most of his fur on his back and legs.
He was spotted dodging traffic by a volunteer for Pet Welfare, which takes in unwanted dogs and fosters them back to health and finds them a new home. When he was captured the volunteer was told which house he lived at nearby but when she spoke to the apparent owners they denied all knowledge of the dog.
Since his ordeal Harry has been recuperating at the home of Sue George, in Silkmore Crescent, Stafford who is now appealing for help in finding him a home.
She said: "One of our volunteers was on her way home from work when she spotted him in the road and there were several near misses with the traffic. He has lost all his fur at the back which is awful because for the cost of £4 from the vets he could have been treated but the fur is starting to grow back now.
"He is eating well and many of his cuts and sores have healed.
"Because of his damaged feet he is wearing socks, and although in pain he is managing to get about."
She added: "Despite everything he has been through he is still very loving and trusting and would make a lovely family pet. He gets on well with other dogs and cats and would be good with children as well."
