Residents across Cannock Chase will get new recycling bins from Monday in a shake-up of the system which allows them to put all recyclable rubbish into one bin.
The new service aims to save homeowners in the district time as it will mean they no longer need to separate and sort the recycling into different boxes.
The recycling box system will be replaced with a single blue wheelie bin which will then be sorted later at the waste processing plant using the latest technology.
The new system is being rolled out across the district following successful trials last year and as well as saving residents time in separating the recycable waste will also save Cannock Chase Council money.
The local authority will replace the recycling boxes and bags used for dry recyclables like glass, plastic, newspaper and tin cans with a single blue wheelie bin.
The Council will be introducing the blue wheelie bins to households from Monday. The first deliveries will be to the households who are due to put their recycling out with their green bin week commencing July 5.
All residents will have the new service by September.
Councillor Tony Williams, portfolio leader for the environment said: "We currently recycle 52 per cent of all household waste and the new blue wheelie bin system is another step in our commitment to simplifying and improving the process of recycling for our residents.
"The changeover process is very simple and we sent special information booklets to every household on the switchover in May - collection days remain the same and residents should start using the blue wheelie bins as soon as they are delivered."
For further information residents should refer to their collection calendar or log on to the Council's website at www.cannockchase dc.gov.uk/bluebin
