Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, the legendary car that starred in a feature film and spawned a successful stage show, flew into the Black Country at the weekend to delight young fans.

The original car from the 1968 film was brought to Walsall's Victoria Arcade shopping centre by current owner Pierre Picton, and fans flocked to it.

It was a Mercedes racing car before being adapted for the film.

Andy Holloway, of Hardwick Road, Halesowen made the trip to the arcade with his three-year-old daughter Emily.

Computer programmer Andy said: "My daughter is a big fan. It was really great for her to see the car. She saw the film for the first time about six months ago.

"I remember the film as a kid. It was a treat to see Chitty Chitty Bang Bang."
