The Japanese tosa was found along with a suspected pitbull terrier in Kingsley Street, Pleck.
Police raided the house after tip-offs from concerned neighbours that fighting dogs were being bred.
A man and a woman have been arrested on suspicion of keeping dangerous dogs and bailed pending further investigations.Pc Neil Gardiner, of Walsall Police Station, said the discovery of a Japanese tosa was very rare in Britain.
He said: "Pitbulls and Japanese tosas, also known as Japanese fighting dogs, are classed as dangerous dogs by the Government.
"I believe that only one other Japanese fighting dog has been previously seized in the country."
