A man died and five people were injured in a three-car pile-up in Cannock.
A man died and five people were injured in a three-car pile-up in Cannock.
Three vehicles – a red Renault Clio, a blue Peugeot 206 and a black Jaguar saloon – collided in Eastern Way at 10.45 last night.
One had left the carriageway. One man, a passenger in the Peugeot 206 was pronounced dead at the scene.
Five people were taken to hospital, three of them suffering serious injuries.
West Midlands Ambulance spokeswoman Suzie Fothergill said a man who had been driving one of the cars suffered serious head and chest injuries.
He was taken to Selly Oak Hospital for further assessment and treatment.
She added: "The passenger of the vehicle, a man, had suffered life-threatening injuries.
"Despite best efforts of ambulance crews nothing could be done to save him and he was confirmed dead at the scene.
"Two other men from a second vehicle were also seriously injured."
