A sports car worth more than £40,000 was dumped in the middle of a Black Country park and set alight – one of two arson attacks at the spot.

The BMW Z4 was found in Willenhall Memorial Park in Pinson Road at around 12.50am on Saturday.

Police are now investigating after it emerged the high-powered sports car was likely to have been stolen and may have been involved in an earlier crime. Crews spent around an hour putting the blaze out and making the area safe.

The crew from Willenhall station received another 999 call to the same area of the park at 12.40am on Sunday.

This time, a skip containing rubbish from the park had been set alight. Willenhall Fire Station watch commander Ian Gough said: "Twice in 24 hours we were called to Willenhall Memorial Park for deliberate fires.

"I would now ask people to be vigilant and keep an eye out for anything suspicious.

"We believe the car was stolen and was a BMW Z4. It would have been a nice car before this but was completely destroyed."
