The Walsall teenager has recorded a cover version of the Christina Aguilera ballad Reflection which has attracted 500 listeners on Youtube since it was uploaded two weeks ago.
Millions saw the 17-year-old, of Reservoir Street, Alumwell, being comforted by talent show judge Cheryl Cole after she was given the thumbs down by the judges in the last series.
But at the top of her New Year's resolution list is to try again for the hit ITV1 series and to become this year's eventual winner.
The Walsall College student has also revealed she has been receiving voice coaching to hone her singing ability since she was told her version of Whitney Houston number Saving All My Love for You was "just not good enough".
Demi said: "I've decided I'm definitely going back on X Factor this year and I'm aiming to go all the way to the final and win it. I've been getting vocal lessons for about three months and it's helped me quite a lot.
"My recording has attracted about 500 hits since it went on Youtube.
"I'm also working hard to pass my course work for my performing arts course. We'll be presenting a Michael Jackson tribute featuring Thriller, Man in the Mirror and Smooth Criminal next term.
Her recent public appearances included performing at Walsall's Christmas lights switch on, and at Walsall College's Urban held last November to mark the opening of the new £64 million campus, in Littleton Street West.
