A teenager was left with serious facial injuries after he was attacked with a glass in a Stafford pub.

The 19-year-old, from Stafford, was left with severe cuts after a fight broke out in The Yard pub, Riverside, on Saturday.

Police were called to the pub at 11.50pm. An ambulance was called and the victim was taken to the University Hospital of North Staffordshire.

DC Guy Lilburne said the pub was busy at the time and urged witnesses to come forward.

He said the attack was one of the most serious he had seen, with deep wounds down to the bone.

He added: "This was a vicious, nasty attack. There were over 300 people in the pub at the time so we are confident someone saw the incident and can give us some information."

The offender is described as white, 6ft 3in tall and of slim build. He was aged mid to late 20s and had short, dark, crewcut-style hair.

Anyone with information should contact DC Lilburne on 0300 123 44 55 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
