Two men targeted Sandwell and Dudley Rail Station in Bromford Lane, West Bromwich.
Det Sgt Shanie Erwin said today: "The two men threatened two male members of rail staff and a male member of the public with a knife before stealing cash from the booking office and fleeing the station.
"This was an extremely frightening experience for both the rail staff and the member of public involved."
The man with the knife was white and believed to be in his early 20s. He was around 6ft tall, slim and was wearing dark clothing with a scarf covering his face. His trousers were dark with a white band around the knee.
The second man was also white and in his early 20s. He was around 5ft 10ins tall, also slim and wore a light top and dark trousers.
London Midland commercial director Alex Hynes, said: "This was a frightening incident and involved a direct threat of violence to our staff and a member of the public. We would urge anyone with information to speak to the British Transport Police."
The robbery happened at 10.15pm on Sunday. Police have just released details.
