A campaign has been launched to establish a new war memorial in Stafford for soldiers who died in the Second World War and subsequent conflicts.
A full scale model of the memorial has already been made and will be showcased in Market Square, Stafford, on Saturday November 21.
Councillors John Francis and Ivan Jennings, both Conservative members of Stafford Borough Council and Staffordshire County Council, are the driving force behind the plans.
The memorial could be situated in the grounds of St Mary's Collegiate Church, and will cost between £10,000 and £20,000.
Councillor Francis said: "We are hoping to get resounding support for the project. There may be two war memorials in the town cente but there is room for another one." Councillor Francis said they were looking at fundraising ideas.
