The former presenter of Midlands Today is currently serving a two-year prison term for scarring a teenager for life and attempting to hide the weapon.
Blake, aged 40, was sacked by the BBC following his conviction in August for unlawful wounding and perverting the course of justice.
He received his honorary degree from Staffordshire University in July 2007.
A university spokesman said the matter would be considered by the university awards panel in October.
Blake has indicated that he intends to appeal against his sentence.
