The future of a Stafford nightspot is looking bright after the new owners announced plans to reopen it.

The Tequila Red bar and restaurant, in Lichfield Road, will relaunch tomorrow night after being put up for sale by former owners Enterprise Inns earlier this year.

Doubt had surrounded the future of the popular nightspot but now new owners have taken on the lease with Enterprise Inns and plan to breathe new life into the venue.

The business, formerly The Sun Inn, became a Mexican bar and eatery after changing hands in July last year.

Tequila Red will keep its Mexican flavour but will also diversify with live entertainment.

New manager Mark Lacey, who had been at the Bird in Hand in Victoria Square since April, told the Express & Star: "I am really excited about Tequila Red's future. It is a fantastic space and we really hope our plans will hit the right note."

With 25 years experience in the business, Mr Lacey said he plans to deliver a "truly special dining experience to Stafford" adding: "I am also every bit as keen to support local live music and comedy by hosting event nights."

Joining Mark in the new venture will be chef Ed Hart, who said: "Good food is my life. I really enjoy getting out of the kitchen, talking to the diners and getting their feedback."

The relaunch is strictly for the over 21s and will run from 7pm until midnight.
