Calls with information about the bogus officials – who made off with a load of copper worth thousands – flooded into the incident room following the reconstruction in May.
And today police have revealed five people have been arrested and charged, with a court case expected later this year.
A lorry driver was allegedly forced to pull over on the M6 in Preston on March 9, taped to his seat and threatened with a stun-gun, before being directed all the way to St Anne's Road, Willenhall where a copper load was stolen from the wagon.
After stealing the copper in Willenhall the driver was allegedly forced to take the lorry on to Tewkesbury, Gloucestershire, before being tied up and abandoned while the offenders made their getaway.
