A man was shot in the hand and leg at his home in the Black Country.

The victim, named locally as Anthony Baker, was injured at the house in Aston Road, Willenhall, last night.

West Midlands Police today confirmed the victim was being treated in hospital but his injuries are not thought to be life threatening.

A section of Aston Road, near Willenhall Memorial Park, was sealed off today and the road was expected to remain closed until midday.

Anthony Smith, aged 22, a friend of the injured man, said he arrived shortly before 10pm to find police officers at the scene.

"I'd popped round to see Baker, but when I got there I was told someone had walked into the house and shot him in his arm and leg before speeding off in a vehicle," he said.

"The police asked me if I'd seen anything, but I hadn't.

"His partner and the four children were in the house at the time and were hysterical and crying."

The shooting happened at about 9.30pm.
