It was a vision for the future which has now become a reality - the new multi-million pound development at the Beacon Centre for the Blind is unveiled.
Bosses have billed the new centre as a building fit for the 21st century featuring an activity centre, recreation hall and gym, restaurant, conference facilities and community rooms for hire.
There is also an IT suite kitted out for service users and boosted by a donation of £20,000 from food distribution firm AF Blakemore & Son Ltd based in Willenhall.
Beacon Centre for the Blind's Kate Fletcher said: "We are extremely grateful to the Blakemore Foundation for this very generous grant that we will be using to deliver IT training in the new centre.
"When visually impaired people are asked what they need the most, IT training always comes in the top three."
Bosses hope the new-look centre, complete with grand glass entrance, will be ready within the next few weeks.
