A caller at a Kidderminster jewellers prised open a cabinet and took items worth nearly £1,000.

Simon Wilkinson was identified as the thief in CCTV footage at Harveys in Comberton Hill, Mr Stephen Cadwalladr, prosecuting, told Worcester Crown Court

Wilkinson, aged 34, of Witley Close, Kidderminster, pleaded guilty to taking the jewellery on February 16 . He also admitted the theft of a £399 nail gun from B&Q. He was given a 12-month community order.
