Four people went to hospital after a crash in which two pedestrians were hurt.

It is believed two cars collided, with one shunted into two pedestrians, both of whom had to go to hospital.

Paramedics went to West Bromwich High Street, opposite the pedestrian entrance to Astle Park shopping centre at 1.45pm yesterday. West Midlands Ambulance Service's Claire Thomas said: "The drivers of the cars, both men believed to be in their 20s, suffered whiplash injuries in the crash. Crews treated them at the scene before they were taken to Sandwell General Hospital for further assessment and treatment.

"The two pedestrians, a woman and a man in their 30s, were complaining of neck and back pain.

"Both were immobilised with a neck collar and spinal board before being taken to Sandwell General Hospital."
