Girls arrested over flat fall man

Two teenage girls have been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a man plunged from the window of an Old Hill flat.

The 15-year-old and a 19-year-old have been bailed while investigations continue into the fall on Saturday morning.

The victim, believed to be aged in his late 20s to early 30s, plummeted 20ft on to the concrete pavement after falling from the flat above Old Hill Salon in Halesowen Road. He has now regained consciousness.

A 41-year-old man has also been charged with wounding and possession of an offensive weapon. He has been remanded in custody.

Det Insp Gary Dring of Smethwick Police, said: "The man is conscious but has not yet been able to give a statement."

Police were sent to the scene around 8.22am on Saturday after receiving reports of a man injured in the street. He was then taken to hospital.

Nearby business were unable to accept customers because of the police cordon.
