He was David Barlow, a 47-year-old from Stoke-on-Trent, who worked for Stoke-on-Trent City Council.
Mr Barlow collapsed on the finish line in Market Square straight after completing the 13-mile run at around 12.10pm on Sunday and was attended to by St John Ambulance volunteers and paramedics.
He was rushed to Stafford Hospital but went into cardiac arrest and nothing could be done to save him.
