A runner died of a suspected heart attack after completing the Stafford Half Marathon.

The man, in his 50s, collapsed on the finishing line at Market Square and died yesterday despite frantic efforts of paramedics.

It is believed he suffered a heart attack in the ambulance.

He was confirmed dead at Stafford Hospital.

Medics had to treat more runners who collapsed. Around 2,000 took part.
