Handrails have been installed on pathways leading through a subway to a bus depot in Kidderminster after complaints that a steep slope became "treacherous" in icy conditions.
Councillor Helen Dyke, of Wyre Forest District Council, has been lobbying Worcestershire County Council for the handrails to be installed. Now campaigners have won their fight to get the rails replaced.
Councillor Dyke said the handrails were removed when the bus depot was built on the Worcester Road traffic island several years ago.
"These handrails were important for local residents as the pathways are sloping and steep in places making them treacherous to use in the ice and snow," she said.
"With the help of local residents I have continued to lobby the county council for replacement of the handrails on Health and Safety grounds. Now after many years of lobbying I am pleased to say that the council has at last seen sense and replaced the missing handrails."
