Eric Morton will take up the temporary post as chief executive of the Mid Staffordshire NHS Foundation Trust next week, replacing Martin Yeates, who resigned on Tuesday.

Mr Yeates' departure coincided with the resignation of trust chairman Toni Brisby and came two weeks before the results of a Healthcare Commission investigation into the trust.
