Thieves have stolen 28 skips, worth about £23,000, from a company near Kidderminster after smashing a lorry through the firm's gates.

The theft happened on the site of the former Yieldingtree Packers at Hackmans Gate, Blakedown, after two large skip lorries were seen parked over the road in a lay-by.

One of the lorries is believed to have driven through the gates, smashing them down.

The raid happened on February 2, but details have only been released today.

Eye-witnesses saw vehicles on the site but thought nothing of it at the time.

PC Lee Halford, of Kidderminster Police, said: "The these vehicles were there for about an hour, loading a large amount of different skips and they then drove away towards Belbroughton.

"However, the road they took could have led them to Bromsgrove, Rubery or the M5.

"One of the lorries was blue with green writing on it and the other lorry was white," he added.

The skips that were stolen were lime green with the words Brian Hill Haulage & Plant Hire written on the sides.
