A vicious attack on a couple who were tied up by robbers at their home near Kidderminster could be linked with a similar attack on a property developer and market operator last year.

Police said today they were "keeping an open mind" about links between the two raids.

There are similarities as in both cases masked raiders tied the householders up in their own homes before fleeing with money and jewellery.

In the latest attack at about 7.30pm on Friday a gang of four masked robbers tied up a couple after bursting into their home at Hillpool, Drayton, armed with weapons including a crowbar and pickaxe.

The case may be linked to a raid where a property developer was tied up at his home in Harvington, near Kidderminster on November 9 last year.

Maurice Nixon, aged 50, of Harvington, Kidderminster, was set upon and tied up by three men, with a screwdriver stabbed into his legs as they demanded to know where he kept his money. Anyone with information can call 0300 333 3000.
