Two men arrested following an attempted lorry-jacking which resulted in a man being stabbed to death at an industrial estate in Warwickshire have been held for further questioning by police.

The 41-year-old lorry driver, arrested on suspicion of murder, has been released on police bail and must return to the police station later this week.

Dean Skidmore, aged 36, of Brierley Hill, who is believed to have been living in West Bromwich, died from his injuries in Sandwell Hospital after he was stabbed at the industrial park Station Road in Coleshill.

Police have been granted extra time to question two suspects – a 15-year-old boy and 34-year-old man – who were arrested in connection with the attempted robbery of a lorry loaded with designer T-shirts on the Station Road Industrial Estate in Coleshill, North Warwickshire, early on Thursday.

The 41-year-old lorry driver, who was arrested on Thursday morning in connection with the death of Mr Skidmore, was given police bail on Saturday to return to the police station later in the week.

The trucker, believed to be Greek, has claimed that he was attacked in the early hours of the morning, but was not seriously hurt.

Police were first called to the injured driver and his curtain-sided truck, parked on the industrial estate.

About 10 minutes later, West Midlands Ambulance Service received a report that another man was bleeding badly in a car on the northbound carriageway of the M6 motorway.

Despite the emergency call-out, the car containing three injured men was driven directly to Birmingham's Sandwell Hospital.

Mr Skidmore, from Brierley Hill, West Midlands, died of loss of blood from a stab wound.

Police are looking to hear from anyone who saw a dark blue Subaru car driving on the northbound carriageway of the M6 between junctions 6 and 7 on Thursday between 6.20am and 6.30am or anyone who saw the car arrive at Sandwell Hospital at around 6.40am.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact Warwickshire Police on 01926 684343 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
