Zanzibar on market for £500k
Stafford's former Zanzibar nightclub has been put on the market for offers around £500,000.

Owners Nexum Leisure Ltd, of Loughborough, have instructed chartered surveyors Christie and Co to market the 1,800 capacity two-storey club in Newport Road. Zanzibar closed in October last year and Nexum said then that the club was to undergo a major £1 million refurbishment.
In January last year Nexum had announced plans for Zanzibar to become one of its Escapade chain of clubs. It was to have remained open until the refurbishment work began, but no work has ever started.
The club, previously known as the Colosseum, was bought by Nexum in 2004 as part of a chain of 14 Zanzibars around the country. Former owners Springwood Plc had gone into receivership.
A string of celebrities, pop stars and top DJs visited Zanzibar over the next four years.
Last August the club came under fire when it launched a 99p drinks promotion and branded itself the cheapest place to drink in town.
A local councillor warned that it could lead to an increase in anti-social behaviour.
The premises were purpose built as a nightclub in 1964 and was originally Top of the World.
It became The Colosseum in 1986 and underwent a major refurbishment at that time costing over £500,000.
Zanzibar has a public entertainment licence to open until 6am on Fridays and Saturdays and 4am Sunday to Thursday.
The ground floor has two bar areas and a capacity of 900. Upstairs there are three more bar areas and its capacity is also 900.
The club is being sold freehold and enquiries need to be made with the Birmingham office of Christie and Co on 0121 456 1222.
