A decision was due to be made today on whether Worcestershire Council Council will abandon attempts to take over Hartlebury Castle near Kidderminster.

The future of the castle hangs in doubt and many people have said they would like the council to step in and save the Grade II listed building from being sold to outside groups.

The Castle had been the official home of the Bishops of Worcester for centuries until last year's move to Worcester.

If the authority does not decide to buy the castle, estimated to be worth £3million, three organisations have shown an interest.
