A worker's arm was dragged into an industrial power drill in a factory accident in Staffordshire.

The Walsall man, in his 20s, was operating the drill at Romtech, Watling Street Business Park, Norton Canes, Cannock when his sleeve got caught and pulled his arm into the machine yesterday lunchtime, causing multiple fractures.

Three fire crews released him by cutting his clothes and rewinding the machine, while paramedics gave him painkillers and put his injured arm in a splint.

Romtech specialises in making equipment for the construction industry like cages, tunnelling and mining equipment.

Rick Allwood, group health and safety officer, said: "The machine is not being used at all while investigations are carried out with the Health and Safety Executive."
