Hunger strike rapist has 'hours to live'
A rapist who tried to kill his own children was said to be hours from death today after reportedly going on hunger strike in Stafford Prison.

John Dabrowski, a former Walsall education welfare officer, is understood to have been refusing food sporadically since September and has allegedly been given 48 hours to live. Dabrowski, who is now aged around 53, was jailed for at least six years in February last year.
He was locked up after subjecting a Stafford woman to a three-hour sex ordeal in her home. He was found guilty at Stafford Crown Court of two rapes, one attempted rape and two other sexual offences.
But it is understood he has always maintained his innocence and went on hunger strike in protest at his imprisonment. He is understood to have a living will which prevents prison officials from intervening.
Dabrowski, who formerly lived in Pinfold Lane, Norton Canes, was jailed for 42 months in 2005 after admitting an indecent assault.
After his release he went to live in a bail hostel in Oldbury, and through a friend met the Stafford woman he went on to attack.
Stafford Prison today refused to comment on reports Dabrowski was on hunger strike.
Jen Wood, from the Ministry of Justice, said: "The medical condition of any prisoner is held in confidence.
"Prisons are encouraged to take a multi-disciplinary approach to managing those refusing food, and healthcare staff should be involved at an early stage in order to assess the prisoner'' physical and mental health."
Dabrowski has a history of going on hunger strike. He had been refusing food while in Walton Prison while on remand for trying to kill two children.
In 1996 he admitted two attempted murders after taking the children to a remote part of North Wales where he tried to suffocate and strangle them.
He was jailed for 10 years after a court heard he was trying to exact "revenge" against a woman.
