One victim of the credit crunch has refused to let the doom and gloom ruin his family's Christmas by creating a state-of-the-art lights display outside his Staffordshire home.
Father-of-six Steve Mattocks has created a stunning display involving up to 20,000 lights at his home in Heathbank Drive, Huntington, near Cannock.
The electrical engineer, who was made redundant from his Derby-based job seven weeks ago, has even installed a radio FM transmitter so people driving past can watch the display accompanied by music.
The transmission spreads for about 100 yards around his house on the 90.0FM frequency and features 15 festive songs.
Mr Mattocks, aged 37, said: "There didn't seem to be as many decorated homes this year, maybe people are feeling the pinch but with the state of the economy it's good to bring something nice into the world."
