A drug dealer from Staffordshire has been jailed for four years at Stafford Crown Court.

Graeme Meer, aged 28, of Carlcroft, Stoneydelph, Tamworth, was found guilty by a jury of possessing crack cocaine with intent to supply.

He was arrested in June after a raid at the house in Stoneydelph by members of Trent Valley Division's pro-active unit supported by neighbourhood officers from Tamworth.

Police found crack cocaine and Meer was charged with possession with intent to supply.

Inspector Ian Coxhead, commander of Tamworth neighbourhood policing unit, said: "This was a substantial sentence which we hope sends out a very strong, clear message that drug dealing in Tamworth will not be tolerated.

"The arrest and charge followed positive action by police officers and I would appeal to anyone with information or concerns about drug dealing in their community to contact police.

"Our very clear message to drug dealers and other criminals is we are ready to take robust action to get drugs off the streets.

"Illegal drugs present a serious threat to the safety of people of all ages in our communities and my officers will continue to target those responsible."
