Right royal surprise at pub
It's not every day the Queen pops in for lunch but regulars at a Cannock pub were in for a right royal surprise when she did just that.
It's not every day the Queen pops in for lunch but regulars at a Cannock pub were in for a right royal surprise when she did just that.
Stunned punters were forced to do a double-take over their pints as they spotted a regal-loking lady arrive for a carvery meal.
Fellow diners could not believe their eyes as they found the "Queen" standing alongside them in the queue trying out the carvery at Mill Farm pub, on Lichfield Road.
Then Her Majesty, aka look-alike Mary Reynolds, tucked into the princely banquet and enjoyed a stately tipple.
Terry Cope, manager of the pub, said: "Her majesty was in town to check out the tasty fare at the pub. It was a real privilege to have our very own royal in the pub. The team and customers were certainly shocked to see the Queen in the queue for one of our popular carveries.
"No extra-special treatment was needed for our Queen look-alike because to us every customer is a king. We believe in giving everyone a royal welcome and not charging a royal mint for the privilege. I'm sure even the Queen couldn't believe her tastebuds."
The hungry look-alike also dropped into the Radford Bank Inn at Stafford for a bite to eat. The visit marks the recent change of the pub's brand name from Toby Carvery to the more majestic Crown Carvery.
