A passenger had to be cut free from the wreckage of a car which crashed into a lamp post on a busy dual carriageway in Kidderminster.

The driver escaped injury after he lost control of his BMW in Worcester Road.

The car hit a lamp post in the centre of the dual carriageway before ending up in the grass verge on the opposite side of the road.

A woman trapped for about 30 minutes by damage to the passenger side of the car was treated by paramedics while firefighters worked to release her.

Crews from Kidderminster fire station were called to the scene and had to remove the roof from the car, a BMW three series, to free the woman who had suspected leg and back injuries.

The crash, which did not involve any other vehicles, happened at around 8pm yesterday.
