Motorists in Kidderminster were today reminded by police not to leave satellite navigation items in their cars after a spate of thefts.

A sat nav worth £80 was stolen from a Ford Escort in Peel Street on Monday night and another from a Toyota Prius in Sutton Park Grove the same night.

The equipment had been hidden under the arm rest between the front seats but the cradle was left on display on the dashboard. Thieves also caused damage estimated at £200 by smashing a window.

Police today appealed for motorists to Remove It or Lose It.

Detective Sergeant Karl Byrne, of Kidderminster CID, said: "Leaving the cradle on display tells thieves there is likely to be one hidden in the glovebox or elsewhere in the vehicle."

He urged drivers to park in well-let areas and to remove all Sat-Nav equipment.
