A woman who threw a beer glass at another woman's face during an argument in a Rugeley pub has been banned from bars in the town centre. Carol Mulli threw it during a wow in The Chase Inn.
It hit Julie Ballinger near the eye and she suffered cuts and a black eye but is likely to be left only with minor scarring, Stafford crown court was told.
Mulli, aged 45, of Coulthwaite Way, Rugeley, was given an eight-month jail sentence, suspended for 18 months, after admitting assaulting Mrs Ballinger causing her actual bodily harm on May 9.
Judge John Wait also ordered her to pay Mrs Ballinger £500 compensation and banned Mulli from drinking establishments within a mile of Rugeley town centre.
The court heard that Mulli had previously been cautioned for an assault.
Judge Wait told her: "It's very worrying when a lady of 45 who's never been in trouble before comes, in six months, to be involved in two violent incidents.
"Both of them involve you being in drink to a degree, both around licensed premises and both using a bottle or glass which can cause serious injury."
Mr Ian Pinkney, prosecuting, said the women knew each other, although they were not friends.
Mr Stephen Bailey, defending, said: "There is a background here and there was an element of provocation.
"It has been a salutary lesson for my client – there's been no further trouble since this incident."
