Staff were evacuated from a Kidderminster factory today after a truck inside the building caught fire.

Firefighters were called to Titan Steel Wheels in Bridge Road, Cookley, just after 6.30am where they found a stacker truck ablaze.

The truck was completely burned out and the factory – a warehouse style building – was badly smoke logged.

Crews were on scene for around one hour tackling the blaze.

Watch Commander Mick Rowlands, of red watch, said: "There were not many staff there at that time of the morning but anyone who was there, was evacuated.

"The truck was completely burned out and the building was smoke logged.

"We can only assume the fire was started by an electrical fault."

Two engines attended the blaze and two firefighters wearing breathing apparatus entered the factory to tackle the flames.

Titan Steel Wheels makes large metal wheels for diggers and caterpillars.

Chris Akers, the company's managing director, said: "The fire was extremely small and did not lead to any problems with production of the workings of the factory."

He said that only a handful of staff would have been affected and it was business as usual at the factory for the rest of the day.
